Big Game Hunts
At Las Lajas Game Ranch our goal is to provide you with an authentic South
Texas hunting experience. Outfitter Roberto Vela and staff will work with
you to pre-plan and customize your hunt to meet your personal needs. Hunts
are designed to be exciting and challenging to hunters of all experience
levels. We pride ourselves in providing a warm, family-friendly atmosphere
where serious hunters of all ages are welcome.
Hunts are conducted fully guided safari style or semi-guided from comfortable
elevated box blinds, one-man tripods or ground blinds. You are welcome
to hunt with rifle, bow, black powder or handgun. Whether you hunt from
our vehicle or from a blind overlooking one of the many secluded senderos
or feeding areas, your guide will assist you in finding the trophy of
your choice. We will also be glad to help you with field dressing and
we can provide transportation to a nearby meat processor if you so desire.
Hunt Itinerary
Our basic hunt is three full days of hunting. Hunters generally arrive
around noon of the first day and depart around noon of the fourth day.
You may hunt the traditional style of early mornings and late afternoons
or all day from any of our 44 blinds and stands. Guides will make suggestions
on blind locations based on the trophy you seek and their experience on
the ranch. Transportation to and from hunting areas will be provided by
the ranch. Guides will drop you off at pre-selected blinds or stands,
then pick you up whenever you decide. We may also provide two-way radios
for communication and safety.
Safari style hunts may be scheduled for an additional fee that covers
your personal guide and vehicle. These are fully guided hunts that can
take place mornings, midday and early afternoon. These hunts may occasionally
require light walking or stalking to secure a better shot at a trophy.
There may be one to three hunters in a safari group.
Spot and stalk may only be done upon approval of the ranch management
and may require a personal guide to accompany you. A personal guide fee
may apply.
Bird Hunts
South Texas Dove Hunts
If you are looking for an outstanding dove hunt, Las Lajas Game Ranch
(LLGR) has what it takes to make that search a reality. LLGR offers some
of the best dove hunting in South Texas. It starts with an enormous amount
of local dove in the area. Then add that LLGR is in a direct flight pattern
for dove. Lastly, our natural habitat of native sunflower, weeds and grasses,
not to mention numerous water ponds, result in ideal conditions for whitewing
and mourning dove. Any dove hunter looking for consistent action and excitement
will find Las Lajas an incredible adventure. This is also a great way
for a company to entertain clients or for a group of close friends or
family to get together.
Dove packages are scheduled as group arrangements typically consisting
of a minimum of four to twelve hunters. We furnish comfortable lodging
and travel to and from the hunting areas. These hunts are 3 day and 2
night (2 full days) starting at noon on the first day and ending at 11:00
A.M. on the third.
Wild Quail Hunts
Experience Texas Quail hunting at its best. Las Lajas Game Ranch is home
to an excellent wild quail population consisting of Bobwhites and Blue
Quail. You can expect to raise an average of 15 to 20 coveys a day. There
are no pen-raised birds here!
Hunting takes place while driving the ranch safari-style or by walking
and stalking. Your dogs are welcome, too. Hunts are divided into morning
and afternoon sessions with lunch in between. When evening rolls around,
we return to LLGR headquarters for dinner and to spend the evening reminiscing
the day’s hunt.
Quail packages are scheduled as group arrangements typically consisting
of a minimum of three hunters. We furnish comfortable lodging, personal
guide and transportation while hunting the ranch. These hunts are 3 day
and 2 night (2 full days) starting at noon on the first day and ending
at 11:00 A.M. on the third.
Quail & Dove Combination Hunts
Looking for variety? Hunt quail in the cool, early morning and dove in
the shade of the afternoon. This is wingshooting at its best!
Combination hunt packages are full to semi-guided, all-inclusive packages.
Combo packages are scheduled as group arrangements typically consisting
of a minimum of three hunters. We furnish comfortable lodging and transportation
while hunting the ranch. These hunts are 3 day and 2 night (2 full days)
starting at noon on the first day and ending at 11:00 A.M. on the third. |
